Invitation to Eglise de la Derniere Heure

Pastor Patrick Thersio and Eglise de la Derniere Heure have invited us to join them for a service on Thanksgiving on Sunday August 29th at 1pm.  They meet at St Thomas Anglican Church, 2345 Alta Vista Dr.

Pastor Ken will be preaching through an interpreter, and a buffet will be server afterwards.  Please let the office know if you are coming so we can provide them with numbers.

Dream summit

Coming up on Sunday, September 12th after the morning service will be a "dream summit".  We will have a potluck meal together and then break into groups and encourage everyone to share what they are dreaming of or ideas for creative outreach ministries or the passions they have.

Please prepare by thinking of ideas you might have to share for this summit.

Drive in movie: Cloudy with a chance of meatballs

This Friday (August 27th), at 7pm in the church parking lot:

There will be an air bounce (for the kids), and plenty of popcorn and snacks.  In case of rain this time the movie will be shown inside at 7pm.

Baptism and Picnic

On June 27th, Chapelridge held it's annual picnic/beach/baptism day in
Fitzroy Provincial Park. There were two baptisms (Willy and Dylan).

Car wash

Randy Morris is organizing a fundraising car wash for Randy and Tracey Haw on Saturday, June 19 to be held at Frisbee Tire on the corner of Hazeldean and Eagleson Roads from 9 am to 2 pm. Come and have your car washed and leave a donation for their ministry training.

Jim Stanley

Be sure to check out the recording of Jim Stanley's testimony from this Sunday morning if you missed it. 

Jim, his wife Louise and their family of six boys worked in Sengal and Guinea, Africa to share Jesus with the people there. Jim was and still is one of Pastor Ken's mentors. 

This evening (May 16th) he will be showing a DVD of the ongoing work - indiginous churches -  in Senegal and Guinea, and talking about it at the church at 6pm.  Please come out for coffee and dessert.

Summer Job Opportunity

We have applied for a government grant to hire a student for youth work this summer. We will not know until June if we have received the grant or not but want to find out who out there is interested in applying for the job. 

We are looking for a Summer Youth Worker who will be working with Pastor Jimmy from the later part of May to the end of June (7 weeks) for 30 hours per week at $10.25/hr. Here is an overview of the type of work that person will be doing:

  • leading a Tweens Sunday School class,
  • doing Children’s Moments during the services,
  • helping with youth group when they meet once a week
  • doing some one-on-one discipling,
  • bringing a message 2 different Sundays (or having significant involvement in 2 of the services)
  • helping with a downtown street ministry to youth,
  • speaking to youth groups in area churches
  • taking initiative to reach out to those not involved with our youth group

Qualifications:

  • taking post secondary education, preferably in theological or youth and children’s studies
  • regularly involved in a local church
  • has shown evidence of leadership skills
  • has some experience working with children and/or youth
  • able to take direction from staff and work as part of a team
